About Us
The Sustainable Ecological Education Foundation (SEEd) is a registered 501(c)3 Nonprofit Organization founded on the Colorado Front Range.
We partner with public and private landholders to provide an avenue for educators, students, and other members of the community to get in touch with nature through hands-on education. Based in Fort Collins, CO, we collaborate with graduate researchers and faculty at Colorado State University to design scientifically and socially relevant educational programs.
Our Mission
SEEd aims to create a community of conscientious scientists and community members who work together to explore and implement environmental sustainability efforts. We utilize a collaborative, dialogic educational model to create long-term learning outcomes for participants and train early-career scientists for effective communication. This education model empowers community members and scientists to be not just volunteers, but “sustainability ambassadors.” We will work with a diverse group of collaborators to develop approaches which meet different learning needs.
We address the issue of underfunded education and nature programs. We provide sustainable services, space and resources for educators. Educators provide knowledge on sustainable natural habitats, training, eco practices and maintain local connections to maximize efficiency and communication in the community.
We want participants to learn about how they can become involved in sustainability efforts and how they fit in with the broader sustainability community.
Funding for SEEd will come from grants, donations, and Yerba Cha LLC.
